Modern Sensuality
In a world filled with noise, the pursuit of sensuality is not always the priority. What do we turn to when we seek to reconnect to our whole selves again? In an act of defiance, to reclaim freedom, we have our rituals.
Introducing our latest series: Modern Sensuality, a space where we explore the intimate moments that bring women personal pleasure. We honour the small, powerful practices that ground and nourish us, allowing us to be fully present in our mind and body.
We caught up with model, holistic health coach and mum of two Manon Eleri at her home and spoke with her on her rituals.
‘The more you're
connecting with
your senses,
that's what turns
it into a ritual.
You’re connecting
to the present
moment.’
Whether it’s making a cup of coffee, the quiet of a hot bath or reading, ‘it tends to be all the basic things but just done in a very conscious way,’ Eleri says. ‘Rituals remind you that in such small moments, you can reconnect yourself to the present moment,’ she adds.

‘I think being
present in your body
is the foundation
of sensuality.’
We start the day with a quiet moment, sat on her kitchen stoop: ‘meditation is, and always will be, one of my staples, even if it's just 10 minutes to ground my body and connect my breathing. I think breathwork combined with meditation changes the state in which your body is even operating physiologically, it's not just a mental thing,’ she notes.
‘The way that I love to approach journaling is understanding what's going on astrologically— the moon cycles, what's happening within the planets and the energies that they represent. So whether I’m journaling about something that I want to release, or want to manifest,’ she says.
'Reconnecting with
nature is one of the
most sensual things
you can do.'
We take a walk down to the greenhouse at the end garden and she recalls the time living in London with her partner, starting a family and how she felt the pull back towards suburban life: ‘I find now that I'm living in nature after living in the city for so long, just going down to the garden and reconnecting with everything that’s down there is so crucial for me…
‘I feel like we’ve forgotten that. It’s mother nature, it’s what we are made from. We've spent so long living on Mother Earth rather than living with her,’ she notes.

‘The smells of everything blooming, it’s almost intoxicating, it just reconnects me to myself and also to something bigger…'
‘The simplicity of going out and picking wild flowers from my garden and bringing them back and having them displayed in the house, is just such a simple joy. Seeing what flowers come into season, it's not something that I've ever really been that aware of. Now, I’m reconnecting myself with nature and understanding just how incredible and healing it is,’ she adds.
'Your sensuality if your power.
Its what connects you
to you'
It is that reconnection that brings us back to our authentic selves: ‘feeling empowered and feminine, respecting your softness and your flow, feeling connected to something deeper within you that reflects into the outside world,’ she says.
‘When life gets quite overwhelming, I make a point of doing things that make me feel good, whether it's taking the time to make a coffee and consciously enjoy it or applying body oil and stimulating my lymph system… Reading is a great way to reconnect to my imagination. I think the modern world can be overstimulating, and just sitting quietly with a book is a reminder of how simple but pleasurable a way to spend time, she notes.
